Happy New Years!!

It is 2012!!!  Wow, I cannot believe that 2011 is already over.  It went by so fast!  Ok, so what did we do on New Years Eve???  We decided that even though everyone who lives in New York told us not to go to Time Square for New Years, we went anyway.  It is something that everyone wants to do once and so we were in New York so we did it!!  There were so many people there, you could not see the end of the heads!  We didn't get many pictures.  Most of you I am sure saw most of it on TV.  What you may or may not know is that the performers perform multiple times to get just the right cut to put on national tv so that you can see the best parts.  Those who are there stand for hours.  We stood for ten hours and it was a lot!  It was a good experience to have, but it was also a one time thing.  haha

We got back to the apartment at about 2 in the morning and were super tired.

Church on Sunday started at 11.  They ward we went to was in the same building as the Temple, but it was on the floors above it.  It was so different from what we are used to.  After church we went back to the apartment and changed and then went to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).  It was a pretty cool museum, but it was not as good as the American Museum of Natural History in my opinion.  We did, however, get to see the famous original painting by Van Gogh, "Starry Night" which was very cool.

After we went to the Museum of Modern Art, we loved Maz Mezcal so much that we went back there for dinner on Sunday evening.  It is on the East Side on 86th.  It was a very nice place to have our New Years day meal.
After dinner, we went back to the apartment and then everyone stayed there and dad and I went to La Gaurdia airport to get the rental car to go to Palmyra.  When we got there, there were only two people there at the counter and for some reason it was a busy time so we had to wait a bit.  We had planned to rent a minivan for our family, but we were concerned about space for all of us and our stuff.  So we talked to the manager about it and he decided to hook us up with a suburban for the same price that we were going to pay for the minivan.  It was an awesome deal!!!  And we definitely appreciated the space today on the 6 hour ride up to Palmyra.  Thank You to Hertz Rental Car and a family friend for their awesome hook ups!!!
I am going to go to bed now and then post tomorrow morning about our day today, Monday.  It is almost midnight here.  Hope everybody is having a great new year!
