Keanus: Dine and Donate

Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm!!!!  We just finalized a Dine and Donate fundraiser with Keanus Island Kine Food in Vacaville.  It is going to be Thursday December 15th through Saturday December 17th.  You will be able to go any of these days at any time.  When you show the flier to the cashier, Keanus will donate 20% toward my trip.  The flier will be available soon on the blog so you all can download and print it.  Remember, this is going on for three days.  Mom and I went today and tried some of their food.  Let me just say that everything we had was so good!  I loved the hamburger steak, kalua pork, kalua tropical tacos, and the chicken katsu plate.  My mom said Keanus food was better than any of the food she has eaten in Hawaii.   Hope to see you there!

Thank You so much, Keanus, for your generous offer to do this fundraiser!!

26 Days and Counting!

Wow! I have been given so much information on this trip in the past couple of days.  Tons of details and notes about the schedule for the big day have been emailed and posted on our chorus site. (By the way, the youth chorus has been given an official name and it fits very well:  No Borders Youth Chorus) The chorus has been assigned  vocal parts for all the songs, given choreography plans, details on rehearsal and event times and places, the dress standards, and all of the expectations the chorus is going to be held to.  I was reading through all the material one night this week and got so excited about everything the chorus is going to be able to do that special day.  No one in this chorus is putting only half their heart into this extraordinary event.  We are all putting 110% into our responsibilities.  We cannot wait to provide an excellent performance to help those affected by the tsunami in Japan.

Changing Lives Through Music

I have been practicing the songs we are going to be singing in New York.  They are so powerful.  I love it so much.  The messages from the songs and their harmony are so outstanding it is impossible to comprehend the sound and energy that a 170+ member youth chorus is going to produce.  I wish I could take our time on stage and stretch it out to last a whole day.  I know from singing in other competitions and shows that the time on stage goes by much too quickly.  You practice months, maybe even a whole year to put on a first class show or an "A" level performance.  For a competition, you get to sing two songs which adds up to be about eight minutes on average.  All that time and effot put into two songs.  Why?
Everyone has their different reasons for why they sing or perform for others.  For some it is the fame or the money.  I love to perform and sing for others because I know that I can change lives through music.  For me, music is what brings out my strongest emotions.  Music is one of the most powerful things on earth.  An unknown individual once wrote, "Whether you like the type of music or not, all music is good music, for it opens the heart, soul and mind of indivduals, and is the most powerful way to express yourself."  I believe this is true and this is why I am making the effort to go sing in Carnegie Hall in New York City.  I want to change peoples lives for the better.  There are 2,804 seats in Carnegie Hall.  Someone there is bound to be touched by the music to do good.
Thank You to all those who have contributed to help my family make this experience possible.
